Hello memebers, After a slow start to the season i can report the marlin are here in good numbers. Vessels encountered up to 10 bites for each day over the weekend with up to 5 fish tagged per boat. Majority of the fish are striped with many blacks also amoungst the bait schools. Time to get busy. I have shares open for the following dates. Feb 3rd and 4th March 8th and 14th or anyone wishing to join a share let me know asap and we can start a day off. Shares start at $385 pp per day base on 6 people. The Calypso Fishing Clinic will be held on the 12th and 13th of Feb, this involves 2 days with Tim and Murray learning the best practices on Marlin fishing from Port Stephens. First day is spent on the Calypso checking rigging, boat setup etc etc and the second day is spent putting the methods into practice on the fish. With the new line class rules for Tand R these will be invaluable lessons. These clinics were a great suces last year with all participants gaining valuable knowledge from the days. Anyone interested please contact Capt Tim asap. Fishing clubs welcome also. These clinics are $600 pp for the two days. Other dates can be arranged to suit clients wishes and over bookings. Contact Capt Tim 041 1111476 to discuss your spot. OK i'm going fishing Best Regards Capt Tim

Lizard Island day3 28.10.2009

Hello Members, Day 2 Lizard Island was not unlike the first with the flet spreading out to locate more fish. We found some warmer water via the sea surface temp charts and decided to travel down from number 9 to the middle ribbons through this warm stuff about 12nm east of the edge. Th e temp graph was right and water 1 degree higer was found full of skipjack tunas, yellow fin except the marlin eluded us. We tracked the tunas followed them until they jumped the fence, this means they entered a green (no fishing zone) which is basically in the middle of no where in the Coral sea around 2000mts deep. Hence to say we finished the day on the edge at number 5 only seeing one tailing fish for no bite! Other boats had mixed results with a few more fished caught on the very northern reef of Jewel and Hicks which are north of the famous Lizard Island, Ross on the Top Shot scored well with 3 tags of small fish in the middle right around everyone. Yes when its your turn its your turn alright. Great result for the boys which put them into the lead and also champion team day 2. The new Assegai “Askari” hooked a big fish at 1728pm which after a real fight was released at 2100 hrs and was called 1100lb plus. Great fish for Shane on his new machine. Day 3: Started like day two with the fishing slow by last weeks standard. Hicks sounded like the place to be with the private vessel “Spartacus” with Ralph Cybanski Jnr. At the helm putting it to us so called pro’s by catching a double header first up followed by another 2 bites for one release (been doin this for long mate???) Another private vessel Mai Tai rubbed salt into the wound with their double header later in the day(how easy is this fishing game??) Enter the Viking11. Bill released 2 fish in quick succession to give the “pros” somewhat of a break and spur us along as he does, it may of worked with “Kekoa” hooking a 900lb fish and released it on number 5 and us guys on “Calypso” releasing 2 fish to Phil McCloy in 25 mins. There were a few other bites on vessels not fishing the tournament and probably others I missed but overall its been pretty slow. On another matter the Australian Fishing and Lifestyle Party which is our political arm needs support and members. Please go to the Lizard Island GFC www.lizardislandgfc.asn.au And join up to fight the PEW groups attack on our fishing areas. They have from Sunday lobbied the pros from the Coral Sea to give up their pemits which basically leaves us on our own to fight them! We need all your support as their next move is from Fraser Island to Port Macquarie totally closed up! Maybe NOW people will act before its far to late. Its $40 per membership or $50 for a family. JOIN NOW. Any problems call me on 0400 847537 after 7.30pm each evening. Dates still open from the 27th November for 5 days. Best regards Capt Tim

Lizard Island update day #1 25.10.2009

Hello from the Reef, The fishing thus far for the boys on Calypso has been nothing short of great!!. All our trips have caught nice big fish and lots of them. Peter Collins, Phil McCloy, Matt and Zac have all caught fish between 900 and 1000lb's. All within the last week. As for this season compared with last year its a definate improvement with most boats sharing in the action. The Lizard Island Classic started today with somewhat slower fishing, we managed a fish of 200lb's to get the ball rolling. The lead boat is on three fish "Castille" with Dean Bech at the helm, the boys had a flurry of action this afternoon on number 10 ribbon releasing 3 fish with the biggest 950lb. The rest of the fleet struggledto keep pace with castille and only a hand full of boats taging fish. The Classic is over 7 days and is still WIDE open, my prediction is for around 15-18 fish to win!! We now have some dates in November open for anyone who wants to come up. Nov 27th to the 1st December is open (5 days) which runs over a weekend so get your mates together and get up here as the full moon on the 3rd of December willbe prime time for the famous aggregation of Bigeye/Yellowfin Tuna's and of course the big blacks out wide of the edge. Anyone interested can call the boat phone each evening on 0400 847 537 between 6.30pm -9.00pm QLD time. I'll report on the tournament as it unfolds. Best Regards Capt Tim
